GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
WEDDING MINISTRY
1115 36th St., Galveston, TX 77550
A long-time member of Grace, Pat answered the call by a former Rector for help with weddings. That was back in the year 2001, and after coordinating more than 54 weddings at Grace she continues with this ministry to this day. Having experienced the magnificent beauty of this church herself the minute she stepped inside for the first time, she embraces it as one of the most breathtaking and sacred places for couples to begin their lives together.
Meet Pat Bevil
Grace Church’s Wedding Ceremony Coordinator is responsible for responding to your initial inquiry with the information you need to make your decision to be married at Grace. Once your wedding has been approved by the Priest, the Coordinator will work with you, the officiating priest, your florist, photographer, videographer, musicians and others you might engage on all of the details of your ceremony over the period leading up to your wedding. This includes gathering all the information for the creation of your ceremony program, being at your rehearsal to assist the priest and work with your ushers and others involved in your ceremony. On your wedding day, she will arrive early to prepare the church, marriage documents for signatures, and pew candles if you choose to have them; receive your flowers from the florist, pin corsages and boutonnières, and attend to any needs that may arise. At the appointed time, she will gather the family for their seating, prompt the processional, remain there throughout the ceremony, and prompt the ushers as they escort the family out of the church following the ceremony. Once the ceremony is over and everyone has left the church for the reception, it is her responsibility to oversee the cleanup, return of the furnishings to their original places and prepare the altar and church for the following Sunday service.
We recognize that professional wedding consultants or planners are of great importance to the smooth unfoldment of the wedding day. They are welcome to attend the rehearsal and ceremony, but they will not be involved as these are under the discretion and direction of the priest.
